Description
This is a partially handwritten, partially typed draft of an article to be published in The Nation concerning the status of Czechoslovakia. Masaryk decries the abuses of the Czech nation at the hands of the Austro-Hungarian theocracy. Masaryk describes WWI as a battle between democracy and theocracy, and aligns Czech national goals with American democratic values. He advocates the dismemberment and destruction of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and pitches Bohemia as a barrier against Germany. He also creates intellectual parallels between the Czech nation and the English nation.
